Albura

sapwood (Spanish)

Albura is the sapwood of the Lenga tree, the young, soft layer just beneath the bark. This nightstand puts two native Argentine woods in tension: the pale, porous sapwood of Lenga against the dark, dense heartwood of Lapacho. The entire structure is held together by interlocking joints, no screws, no adhesive. The piece does not decorate the wood, it exposes it.

— Process

Built by hand.

Every joint was cut, tested, and adjusted by hand. The Lenga was planed to expose the sapwood grain. The Lapacho was shaped on a bandsaw and finished with chisels. The two woods meet at every intersection without glue, screws, or hardware.
